We have almost run out of Birmingham retro stuff.

TEAM NEWS

Birmingham manager Chris Hughton is likely to give on-loan signing Erik Huseklepp his debut against Nottingham Forest after he joined from Portsmouth.

Striker Nicola Zigic is still injured but Marlon King has recovered and may partner Huseklepp up front.

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cotterill is likely to include on-loan signing Greg Cunningham in his squad.

Cotterill has no new injury concerns although strikers Ishmael Miller and Marlon Harewood remain sidelined.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

• Nottingham Forest hold a 37 wins to 35 lead over Birmingham after 101 competitive meetings. Victory for Forest will mean that honours are even in league matches on Birmingham turf, at 17 all with 10 drawn.

• Birmingham are looking for a third consecutive win over Forest in league and cup, but they have not done the league double over them since 1959/60.

• Forest are chasing a first win in eight clashes, since a 2-0 win at St Andrews on New Years’ Day 2001.

Birmingham City

• Chris Hughton’s side climbed to third midweek, and will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to an unmatched 12 Championship games (W7, D4) in an effort to close the five-point gap on the top two.

• Blues are one of two clubs without a Championship defeat in 2012, and the only club still to lose a home game in this division (W10, D6).

• They have not conceded in four league games at St Andrews, and have only shipped six home league goals all season.

Nottingham Forest

• A 2-0 home win over fellow strugglers Coventry last time out, and Portsmouth’s 10-point deduction helped lift Nottingham Forest out of the relegation zone, and three points above the danger line.

• The East Midland club last won back-to-back league games in October at the outset of Steve Cotterill’s managerial reign.

• Four draws, 19 defeats and 26 goals scored is the joint worst in the Championship on all three counts.

Birmingham City have signed Norwegian striker Erik Huseklepp on loan from Portsmouth until the end of the season.

Portsmouth went into administration last week and off-loading Huseklepp will reduce the club’s wage bill.

On Wednesday Portsmouth’s administrator Trevor Birch announced 30 redundancies were being made at the club, though none among the playing staff.

Huseklepp, 27, joined Portsmouth from Bari and has scored six goals in 27 Championship appearances this season.

He has won 26 caps for Norway, scoring seven goals.

Cheltenham have re-signed Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland on a youth loan deal until the end of the season.

The England U21 international, 18, first signed for the Robins

in September

and spent three months at Whaddon Road, making 12 appearances.

“It’s all about getting experience to try and prove myself at Birmingham and it’s a great place to come back to,” he told BBC Points West.

Birmingham will be allowed to recall Butland after an initial 28-day period.

The Bristol-born keeper has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Championship side but has been an unused substitute on four occasions since his successful spell with the League Two promotions chasers.

Butland added: “The main thing for me was showing them I could handle League football. I think they knew what I was about before I left but they didn’t know how I would handle myself in games.

“I couldn’t just walk back into the side as Boaz Myhill has been doing very well and it would be wrong for them to take him out the team.

“I’ve just got to keep progressing and try and prove myself here so I’m ready for next season.”

Robins manager Mark Yates added: “Scott [Brown, Cheltenham keeper] has done really well but we need competition.

“We’ve had to be patient with it but we know he’s worth waiting for. He was a big presence for us in our run. We’ve waited and it’s come off.”
